In the Wet Shaving Community I have seen plenty of rumors about a variety of things. It doesn’t surprise me. The WSC is filled with people from all walks of life and with so many different personalities in a pot, it’s going to boil over due to contraries and misunderstandings. I’ve said it before, this is a passionate group of people. It happens every day – people discuss what’s better than another thing, this person did that and it goes on and on. Even if the information is false and there is documentation that proves that it is, people continue to spread the malicious and aggressive campaign against others. It’s a vicious chain of anger.
David Wilcox is a singer/songwriter based out of Asheville, North Carolina and he writes songs from a very emotional place. I don’t know how he does it, but he is able to reach down deep into a well of understanding and write songs that hit the heart of matters that are important to us as a species.
He has a song called “Chain of Anger.” The song is about a father and son, and the father’s relationship with his father. The character of the song has had enough because the character’s father has just hit his son in front of him. He says, “You rage again and we will disappear. Your father’s chain of anger stops right here.” There are great metaphors in this song that perfectly frames for the listener that enough is enough. To better understand the context of the song, here is a link to David’s lyrics to the song and the video on YouTube.
I am here to formally request that the chain of anger be stopped right now in the Wet Shaving Community because enough is enough. We have too much to lose and nothing to gain from it. Everybody gets in each other’s faces about issues that are petty and it will do much more damage than we’ve ever dreamed.
I am saying that if we don’t stop this nonsense, the Wet Shaving Community will continue to splinter as it’s done for many months, into a group of small focus tribes whose sole purpose will be to either combat the anger or perpetuate it.
I don’t know about you, but in my eyes, what I see is total chaos when it comes to these allegations and rumors. They are flying around like baseballs in a field. The thing is, the WSC isn’t some baseball park where you are warned in advance that you could get harmed by incoming foul balls.
Look, we’re adults and we can beat this by stopping the gap between us and start acting like we need each other here.
Our future depends on it.
Special thanks to David Wilcox who wrote the song and inspires me daily with his gift of songs and stories. You can find out more about him at davidwilcox.com.
