A question: Is there any way to know how large is the market share of DE safety razors? With all the excellent internet vendors of wet shaving gear, I wonder why I cannot walk into a corner drug store and buy DE blades. Occasionally I can find Wilkinson Sword, or Merkur blades but I cannot recall seeing anything else in the US or Europe. Thanks.

  2. Wayne, I have definitely not forgotten your question, but I have to say that I am stumped about it. I did see that Hyvee started carrying the stainless Gillette double edge razors, and of course, there’s also the One Touch razors that are available because “you saw it on TV,” because of Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars promotion, but I think it may have to do with contracts between big stores and the companies who pay big bucks to promote their stuff in the stores. In my opinion, I think that there is a big shift coming between what we see now and what we will see in the future. The person who has done a lot more digging is Mark Herro of Sharpologist.com. I highly recommend him as an additional source of info about the Wet Shaving culture as a whole. He’s fantastic.
